Stammers plans for government

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has given his speech outlining what he plans for the government and how he plans on changing things. He has stated that under his leadership there will not be an election manifesto and claims its not a “serious plan for government” He also claimed under his leadership.

  • Rape and serious sexual assault cases will be fast-tracked

  • Mental health spending would not be allowed to fall



  • digital skills in schools and reinstating compulsory work experience

he criticises Boris Johnson as a “trivial man and a showman with nothing left to show” he also pledged under labour government he would increase spending on new research and technologies to 3% of national income and states


  • “You need a plan to make Brexit work”.

  • He adds “without a strong economy we cannot pay for the good society” and that

  • climate change is a an “existential threat”, “time is short, and we have a duty to act”. He adds that



  • “It will be labours national mission over the next decade to fit out every home that needs it to make sure its warm, well-insulated and costs less to heat and we will create thousands of jobs in the process” he also claims labour would bring forward a green new deal to “cut the substantial majority of emissions this decade”. He also pledges to

  • help young people get ready for work

  • guarantees that every young person would get to see a careers adviser

he believes that his party can win the next election and states that even though he “loved” his “first full conference as leader” he does not “want to go through the same routine every year”. He also states he “grieves” to see Britain “isolated and irrelevant”.
