Since the death of princess Diana of Wales, 31st August 1997, there has not been anyone to claim the title ‘princess of Wales' until 9th September 2022 when King Charles gave Kate Middleton the title at his first speech at the Monarch after his mother’s death.
Prince William assured Catherine that there is no pressure as she claims the title after 25 years, Catherine may face some pressure after being declared Princess of Wales and the pair will take on the role as Dutch and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.

The previous princess Diana, sets a big example for this role she is a ‘an inspirational woman to look up to’ quoted by Kate. Diana was always involved with events and charity’s including part taking in her children’s sports day at school and breaking the royal rules.
Diana was also president or patron of over 100 charities’ including:
- The English National Ballet
- Leprosy Mission
- The National Aids Trust
- Hospital for Sick Children
- Royal Marsden Hospital
Diana was always devoted to always helping others and making appearances at other countries. The princess was renowned for her style and was closely associated with the fashion world, patronising and raising the profile of younger British designers.
The new princess reportedly wont inherit princess Diana’s wedding tiara but her daughter princess Charlotte will as the family heirloom has been saved from Diana to pass down to her granddaughter. Kate said it’s about carving your own future, and nobody is trying to fill Diana’s shoes because what she did was fantastic.
After being given the title Charles Spencer (Diana’s younger brother) breaks silence, he hasn’t been seen by the public, but I think we can all guess that it just reminds him of his older sister Diana.
