Buckingham palace has said that The Queen has "reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days" and will not be travelling to Northern Ireland today.

"Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow," the palace statement added.

"The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future."

Her decision is said not be related to concerns over the coronavirus.

She has recently been seen multiple times using a walking stick and is now using an alternate entrance at Westminster Abbey seeing as it is a shorter walk. Royal fans have said that the public shouldn’t be “surprised” if Her Majesty starts to use a stick more regularly.

The Queen, who is expected to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee next year, has generally been in good health despite her age and at 95 – it shouldn’t be any surprise that she wants to be more comfortable.
