It has been reported that the only construction programme that is currently happening in our region at the moment is the redevelopment of Barnsley Town Centre.

Barnsley is not only famous for its mining, but also for its spectacular markets too.
The new Glass Works for the Town Centre will have everything you have ever wanted. This will include 25 brand new shops, restaurants, a Superbowl, a Cineworld and a new open space for you to gather with all your friends and family.
Already in the town, we have seen the first phase of the programme already open, including the new Library near the Transport Interchange and the refurbishments of the Barnsley Markets (which includes loads of stalls to choose from).
A local magazine (Love Barnsley Town Centre) recently did a survey for the redevelopment and asked people for some comments as to what they are looking forward to seeing. Here are some of things in which they said:

Recently, Henry Boot’s (who is responsible for the construction of the redevelopment) has released images of what the Town Centre will eventually look like once completed. Here are just some of them.

The last phase of the Glass Works should be completed and hopefully open to the public in September 2021.
