Police have made suspicion arrests after daylight shooting in Locke Park leaves local man with gunshot wounds.
A man in his thirties was reported to be shot at around 3pm on 9th October. The Ambulance services was called immediately and paramedics and local doctors reported that his injuries were very lucky to not have been life threatening. The man in his thirties will later provide information about why the attack is deemed as targeted.
Sergeant Sam Newton of the Barnsley CID explained: “We would like to remind the public people that this was a targeted attack and certainly remains no danger to the wider public.” This is important for the local society especially a during the day attack because if it wasn’t confirmed by Sergeant Newton it could make the public frightened of it being an act of terrorism.

“We’re still trying to gather information as to what happened, and believe that people may hold some important footage they might’ve filmed of the incident or the aftermath”.
An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attacking the man along with a 45 year old woman who was seen as a suspicious part in the attack for assisting an offender. Another man, also 18, was further arrested on suspicion of being involved with the attack.
Both men and the woman have been given bail since the case is still being enquired. Anyone with footage is urged to get in touch with the local authorities immediately.
