As another week in the world of sports comes to a close, we take a look at the most exciting and impactful moments across various leagues and competitions.
In football Sheffield United were away at Coventry, a side often bitter over the players they have recently lost to the Blades. United scored twice in the first half, opening the scoring first in the 13th minute via Tyrese Campbell. This was later followed by a perfect finish from palace loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. Just before United could get their second, Coventry scored, via Bassette, However, a minute before the end of the first half, centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic, was sent off after an altercation with Coventry’s Norman Bassette. The Blades went from a comfortable lead to heaps of pressure as they were down to 10 men. United managed to hold of a Coventry equaliser but only until the 80th minute when, centre half Thomas powered home his second goal in four games.
Sheffield Wednesday were at home to Cardiff City, a struggling side. The away side took the lead first in the 36th minute. It was Ollie Tanner who scored on the rebound, after a promising start from Cardiff. However, the lead did not last long and before the away fans knew it three points had turned into one. Wednesday played well throughout the second half but couldn’t convert. Another important point for the Owl’s campaign.

Barnsley were also at home, this time to Wigan, a midtable side. Barnsley had a couple early chances to take the lead but just couldn’t convert. This left an opening for the visitors. An opening that came just before the first half. A 41st minute goal from Wigan’s Thelo Aasgard was enough to give The Latics the win.
Rotherham were away at Crawley Town, a close rival at the lower end of the table. Will Swan’s first-half goal helped Crawley beat Rotherham at the Broadfield Stadium and heap more pressure on their former boss Steve Evans. It was all three points for Crawley Town at full- time.
Doncaster Rovers made the trip north to bottom of the league two table Carlisle. It was a poor showing from both sides in the first half, with a shot at goal being a rare occasion. This lack of competition seemed to follow into the second half, until Rover’s substitute Gibson went close late on. This was shortly followed by a what thought to be winner, for Carlisle however it was deemed offside by the linesmen. To finally kill the already bland game of football, Rovers; Jay McGrath was sent off in 90+6 for a second booking.

In Formula One, Max Verstappen was crowned four-time world champion. However, it wasn’t the Red Bull driver who won the race. In fact, it was a Mercedes/Britcedes 1-2 for possibly the final time this season. George Russell came home, rather comfortably, in Vegas and spent the night celebrating in the party capital.
That is it for this week, see you next time!
