This October people are setting themselves goals to stop doing thing that are impacting them mentally and physically

Stoptober was first used to encourage people to stop smoking, but more recently people have also used it to get rid of any other bad habit. These can be things like stopping ng swearing, eating out, wasting money and using mobile devices.

The NHS are encouraging people to set themselves a goal this Stoptober as its only going to benefit the people who do set themselves a goal, its going to improve their health in some way or another. If peoples health is improving them there are going to be less people going to hospital for things like type 2 diabetes and breathing problems.

When interviewing someone about what they are doing this Stoptober they responded with,

‘I’ve stopped smoking because it hurts your body, yes it does make you feel less stressed but is the cost of killing your body really worth it?’.

Then I asked about what benefit was being gained from this,

‘its benefitted my lungs because I’m not coughing as much and I feel more pro-active with what I’m doing. The sudden urge is slowly fading’.

What are you going to do this Stoptober?
