Barnsley are winless in 10 games for the second time in 3 season following Saturdays 1-0 lost to Reading. This dreary statistic is only going to put more pressure on manager Markus Schopp.
As for the reasons of Barnsley’s winless run, the main problem seems to at the front rather then the back, which has been an issue as well. As whilst Barnsley have certainly been conceding goals, they have also not been scoring them as well, with no goals being scored in open play since the end of august, with the 2 goals scored since being from free-kick and a penalty respectively.
Of course this is not the first time Barnsley have done this, having as long as a 17 match winless in the 2019-2020 season, but at least in that run we could say that we tried, which cannot be said this season. There s

eems to be a lack of fight in the time, even with a slightly improved performance at Reading, and with rumours abound that Schopp has lost the dressing room, could he soon find himself losing his job as well? History may well be against him, as in the cases of both the 17 match winless run in 19-20, as well as a 7 match winless run last season, both ultimately where resolved after a change in the manager’s seat, which may once again be the case.
All of this spells trouble for both Barnsley’s season as well as Markus Schopp’s job. With fans will turn to tonight’s game against Middlesbrough to hope for a return to form, but their hopes may well turn out to be in vain.
