Monday 14th June 2021 is the first game for both sides in the Copa America, and the second game of this year’s Copa America tournament

The first game of group A is a fixture that took place a few weeks back, as a World Cup qualifier and warm up game for the tournament. The friendly a few weeks ago ended in a 1-1 draw with Lionel Messi scoring the games opener from the penalty spot in the 24th minute. As well as an equaliser from Alexis Sanchez with ten minuets to go in the first half.

The Chileans go into the tournament with several new faces in the camp, including Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Brereton joining the squad. The 22-year-old has had an impressive season in the Championship that warranted his first call up for Chile. Although he is yet to make single appearance for Chile, he is included in the squad of 26 and will be hoping to make his debut for La Roja this summer.

In the Argentina camp it is very familiar faces for Argentine fans with arguably the best player in the World likely to captain the national team. As well as Loutaro Martinez who has had a very impressive season at Inter Milan, bringing the Sire A title back to Milan. There are many household names in the Argentina camp, however they often struggle to perform at major tournaments. With many questioning the effect that Lionel Messi has when playing for his nation.

There are many big names playing the Copa America this summer, with Neymar Junior scoring the winner for Brazil last night. The Brazilian talisman is now only 11 national goals of the record set by Pele. The Copa America is shaping up to make a very interesting summer for all involved and watching all over the world.
