The Government has announced that 40,000 fans will be allowed for the final four matches of Euro 2020 at Wembley. Wimbledon can also expect the finals on the centre court to be played at maximum capacity and F1’s British GP held at Silverstone under consideration to become test event
Despite Coronavirus restrictions being extended until July 19, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has confirmed that the final four Euro 2020 matches at Wembley and Wimbledon will be staged at 50 per cent capacity, therefore allowing around 40,000 supporters will be in attendance.
On the 28th June Wimbledon will begin for a fortnight, the operation will begin at 50% rising to 100% (around 15,000 supporters.) This is on the centre court for the men’s and women’s finals on July 10th and 11th. Wimbledon will be announcing spectator capacity on Wednesday.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has said: “Full details of capacity limits for each specific event will be set out in due course.”
The weekend of July 16-18 is Formula One’s British Grand Prix and that is also understood to be under consideration for test event status.

Delaying the removal of all restrictions which was set to happen on the 21st June will give people more chance to receive their second vaccine keeping them and others more protected. The proposed extension will be reviewed to see if the action can be taken two weeks earlier on Monday July 5.
Culture Secretary Dowden confirmed on Monday evening that the Events Research Programme next phase will include “up to 20 events that will allow audience numbers to return close to full capacity.” For events which are not included in the ERP, rules will remain as they have since May 17 and stay in place until July 19 at the very least.
In regard to outdoor venues with a seated capacity of 16,000 or above the limit is 10,000 or 25% capacity. Whichever one is the lowest.
The Euro 2020 group games as an example, require ticket holders to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative Covid-19 test result.
