Information from a government presentation by Sir Patrick Vallance and Chris Whitty revealed there is very positive progress in terms of vaccinations, while also revealing that cases are rising drastically, cases doubling as early as every 7 days.
The larges sector of increased cases are in the 20-29 age category, but all age categories are increasing drastically. The lowest cases in children and the 80-89 age category. 70,000 people are infected with the virus with 6 thousand becoming infected upon each day.

Cases doubling every 7 or 8 days, meaning 50,000 people could become infected each day, with 200 deaths a day, if the waves keep going as they are. Although there are more cases being reported treatment has definitely improved in hospitals, but is still far from stopping the virus spreading as drastically as it is.
Taking your own personal risk to catch it cannot be done / advised as the risk you have when going out is not only putting and increasing your own risk, but also “increasing the risk for everyone you come into contact with”. The virus must be managed, ensuring the virus doesn’t take off drastically and, but equally we cannot force measures into place that will cause major mental health damage to many people across the country.

There are several things that could cause an increase in deaths, direct deaths of people ill with the virus, the NHS becoming overwhelmed by the amount of cases they have to deal with will cause more deaths and the NHS neglecting other issues within the hospital to focus on COVID related deaths “indirect deaths” related to the virus.
The guidance remains the same, ensure you practice social distancing wherever possible, washing your hands at every available point, and making sure you portray care and consideration of the people around that you may encounter while being out of the house. Ensuing you are in accordance with all government guidelines that have already been put in place.
