Rafa Benitez is in pole position for the vacant Everton managerial role, after the departure of Carlo Anchiloti, who is now at Real Madrid, replacing Zinadine Zidane.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool managed is now favourite for the job, however, Nuno Espirito Santo was heavily linked with the job following his recent Wolves departure. He would become the first manager ever to manage both Merseyside teams, having won the FA cup and the Champions League in his last visit to Merseyside.

Although Everton are still wanting to explore other options for their vacancy, it’s unlikely they will find another manager like Rafa, with the Premier League knowing how and some trophies outside of the League campaigns.

Although he has never managed Everton, he once described them as a “Small Club” something many fans have not forgotten.

The Spaniard, who still lives in the area, is supposedly keen of reviving Everton, however, many fans are sceptical of the playing style and tactics of the ex-Liverpool man. His last Premiership job was Newcastle, where he also managed in the Championship gaining promotion with the Magpies.
