Salah’s fantastic form recently has shone through again last night’s Champions League fixture away at Estadio Metrapolitano, the stadium of Athletico Madrid; who knocked out Liverpool in the round of 16 in last year’s Champions League.

Liverpool won Athletico Madrid last night in a five goal thriller, Salah scoring two and Naby Keita scoring a thunderbolt of a goal from the edge of the box. Mohammed Salah opened the scoring on the 8th minute with a fantastic goal from the edge of the box. Naby Keita then made it two-nil on the 13th with an absolute scorcher of a volley. Griezmann then brought Athletico back into the game on the 20th minute with a cheeky tap in. Griezmann then scored another to equalize the game with a nicely placed finish into the bottom right. Shockingly on the 52nd minute Griezmann was shown an instant red card in result of a high foot on Roberto Firmino. Then, as a result of poor defending from Mario Hermoso, Diogo Jota won a penalty and Salah calmly put it away in the bottom left to make it 3-2 on the 78th minute.

When the game finished, Diego Simeone instantly ran down into the tunnel without shaking anyone’s hand, this infuriated the Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp as it is bad sportsmanship.

In the Post-Match interview Klopp was asked if he was happy with the performance, his reply was “it wasn’t our best football, but it is a big win”.

This is a big win for Liverpool, making them unbeaten in their group, but the question on everyone’s mind is, is Salah the best in the world right now?
