Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez involved in violent altercation with Caleb Plant as they promote fight.

Mexican boxer Alvarez shoved Plant in the chest sending the American staggering across the stage.

Canelo, 31, then evaded a punch from Plant before landing two of his own to cut the 29-year-old under his right eye.

The fight is to take place on the 6th November in Las Vegas.

Alvarez is the current WBC, WBA and WBO title holder, to win the belts he beat British boxers Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders however Plant holds the IBF version.

After an initial altercation the pair came out again at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills when Plant accused Alvarez of being a “drug cheat” this was in reference to Alvarez’s positive test for a banned substance steroid in 2018.

His response to the accusation was:

“Don’t make excuses before the fight.”

Canelo has lost just once in 59 professional fights.

He also claimed that the altercation had been instigated by Plant insulting his mother.

Alvarez continued:

“He can say whatever he wants to me, but not my mum, he swung I just pushed him.”

Plant who holds a 21-0 record aimed a left hook at Alvarez after he was pushed and blamed it on his rival.

“All we were doing was staring at each other. He had something to say, I had something to say. He’s going to beat me; I’m going to beat him”

“And then he did what he did.”
