Sheffield Wednesday came crashing down to earth last week with an extremely disappointing performance at Plymouth.

Darren Moore’s men slumped to a 3-0 defeat with over 2000 Owl fans making the 5 hour cross country journey from Sheffield to be hugely let down by the team, as well as Saturday’s fixture against lowly Shrewsbury at Hillsborough. This could provide the reaction needed to put the Plymouth game behind them.

The Shrews find themselves in 21st place after 7 games with only 1 win to their name. The ‘gaffer’ is a well-known name in former Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham manager Steve Cotterill.

It won’t be an easy game but it’s a match that the Owl’s should be winning if they want to call themselves title contenders which was expected of them before the season started. Darren Moore isn’t short of options in the squad as shown by the constant rotation so far this season.

The Owl’s slightly improved against Plymouth when the trio of new signings: Theo Corbeanu, Olamide Shodipo and Saido Berahino so there’s a good chance these three start on Saturday 18th September and will be wanting to impress.
