During Sunday’s game between Austria and North Macedonia, Austria forward Marko Arnautovic scored in the 3-1 win. However, celebrations soon turned nasty as captain David Alba stepped in to restrict him
The 32-year-olds anger towards the North Macedonia supporters was also seemed to be aimed at opposition team mates Egzon Bejtulai and Gjanni Alioski.
The forward will now miss Austria’s Group C match against the Netherlands on Thursday. Uefa appointed an ethics and disciplinary investigator on the Tuesday after the match and has now confirmed the one match ban for the game on Thursday.
In a statement from the tournament organisers, it read:
“Suspend Austrian Football player, Marko Arnautovic for the next UEFA representative team competition match for which he would otherwise be eligible for insulting another player”.
